Classroom Technology

Standard classrooms are equipped with a networked PC attached to a ceiling mounted data projector and wall mounted speakers to amplify the sound from the PC.

Some rooms also have a Visualisor (document camera) attached to the data projector. Data projectors are controlled via a pixie control unit which is usually located on the wall beside the door of the room or beside the computer desks. The controller allows the data projector to be turned on and off, the source to be switched (where applicable) and the volume to be turned up or down. Larger rooms such as the main lecture theatres also have a sound desk for a podium or lapel microphone.

Lecture theatres in the newer buildings such as in the Dargan Centre and the Barrow Centre have vga or hdmi connections for connecting a laptop to the data projector.
